OHNHR Podcast Twelve with Jordan Wyatt

This podcast was originally recorded in 2011, so I've edited out the opening section which seems of little relevance now.

So now the entire podcast features my chat with Jordan Wyatt of the Invercargill Vegan Society. As you'll hear, Jordan's group was pretty small in those days, whereas now its thriving.

There is a generational gap between when Jordan and I went vegan, so I always find it interesting to get his take on things.

In this chat, rather ahead of the game perhaps, we discussed the issue of whether veganism is easy or hard in the light of such issues as privilege, social class, and the rural/urban divide. We also talked about how veganism was being seen more by local grassroots groups as their moral baseline, and wondered whether that fact would alter the claims-making of national groups. I think history is suggesting mixed results on that. This podcast was recorded before the emergence of reducetarianism, of course, and the growth of the current attacks on veganism from supporters of that camp.
