OHNHR Podcast 17 - Bernie Wright and Jordan Wyatt on Hunting

This podcast, published originally in March 2012, features Bernie Wright of the Dublin-based Alliance for Animal Rights and Jordan Wyatt of the Invercargill Vegan Society talking about the different hunting that takes place in their respective countries.

Before that, I talk about a concept I've banged on about for several years: welfarists do welfare. This uses the work of sociologist Richard Gale - see HERE - and I say that animal rightists need not get involved in animal welfare campaigns due to Gale's take on what's known as the "movement-countermovement dialectic" - which is a fancy way of saying the relationships between the two. Gale adds a third element: The State.

There's then a short piece on speciesism in sports reporting in which I say it is only really fellow animal rightists who could recognise the point being made.

Next is a report on the premier of the film Vegecated which was organised by the Trinity College Animal Rights Group, with some follow up analysis that took place on ARZone.

Finally, before Bernie and Jordan, I gave a report of a then current ARZone project called Vegan Buddies.
