OHNHR Podcast 40: Ronnie Lee Returns to Talk About His New Definition of Veganism

Does the vegan movement need a new definition of veganism?

Long-time animal activist, Ronnie Lee, vegan since 1972, says an emphatic yes.

In this podcast recording, below, he explains why, and answers some of the points made by commentators and critics.

Most vegans regard The Vegan Society's 1979 definition as the official definition of veganism. However, that definition is less radical than ones that existed beforehand, and came into being at a time when animal activists didn't campaign for veganism, even if they were vegans themselves.

Ronnie's proposal, then, represents an update of the definition with campaigning activism in mind.
